"He's definitely got coach written all over him and he could be an extremely successful one; it's just whether he wants to get back into that life of touring the world and in that regard it it probably is too soon for him. But he would make a wonderful coach.">>Daniel Vettori on Stephen Fleming.
Although Vettori is set to assume coaching responsibilities for New Zealand for the ODI series against Pakistan (and maybe even the Test series that follows), it is unfeasible to think that he could combine the role of captain (and key allrounder), selector and coach.
Obviously Vettori and key members of the side were unhappy with Moles, but clearly they would be keen on Fleming, who was universally regarded as an excellent captain and appears to possess many traits that would mark him down as a potential coach.
Like Vettori says though, whether Fleming would be keen to go back into the international fold so soon after hanging up his boots is a hurdle to overcome and as NZC Chief Executive Justin Vaughan states in the article, they may be content to strengthen the management and support staff that is currently in place without adding someone with the title 'Coach' if they cannot find the right person - clearly learning from the perhaps ill-judged appointment of Moles.
