Australia look likely to make changes to their bowling attack for the second Ashes Test in Adelaide with captain Ricky Ponting admitting no-one is certain of their place.Australia's bowlers toiled in the first Test in Brisbane which finished today in a draw after England ovecame a first-innings deficit of 220 with an astonishing 517 for one: a fine achievement but the tourists were assisted by some woeful bowling from the home side.Fast bowlers Ryan Harris and Doug Bollinger have been drafted in to the party with Mitchell Johnson, who finished with match figures of none for 170 - as well as dropping a catch and making a duck, looking particularly vulnerable.
You have to think that Johnson is going to pay for the price for a miserable test, in which he looked bereft of confidence and was barely trusted by Ricky Ponting throughout both innings. Bollinger, considered unlucky to miss out at Brisbane would be a like for like left-arm option, but Ponting was talking up the chances of Harris too and seemed to be suggesting changes post-game:
"I don't think any of our bowlers were at their best. With the inclusion of those guys in the squad, we have to work out which is the best make-up to take twenty wickets - regardless of workload up here.I don't think anyone's certain. We'll have to see how everyone pulls up and decide on our best attack after that."
With Peter Siddle surely safe, and Xavier Doherty unlikely to be jettisoned for a North/Katich/Clarke combination, it could leave Ben Hilfenhaus likely to make way if the Australian selectors show a ruthless streak for Adelaide.
